Claudia adds: “She will be an ambassador for Britain in the way Kate has been. We have already seen her invest in brands such as Barbour, Hunter, Burberry and Mulberry.”
It is expected that Meghan, like Kate, would make occasional official appearances between an engagement announcement and wedding.
A red-carpet veteran, she is already comfortable in the limelight and is likely to be a natural at shaking hands with the crowds and making small-talk.
Following the wedding, she would join Harry representing Britain on tours and be eased into official outings.
Before she met the prince, Meghan was already a global ambassador for World Vision Canada and a UN Women advocate.
Joe Little, managing editor of Majesty Magazine, says: “William and Kate have to carry out full-time royal duties because they are the future King and Queen but there aren’t quite those pressures on Harry and Meghan.
“She could be a part-time royal and do other stuff.”
But her acting career may have to go. Mr Little says: “I think she has to give that up because it could cause all sorts of problems.
“Sophie Wessex tried working for while but that caused problems.”

Meghan is close to her parents Doria Ragland and Thomas Markle, and has written warmly about their influence on her growing up.
As William did with the Middletons, Harry will want to be sure they feel welcomed into the rather daunting royal fold should an engagement be confirmed.
Meghan has met the Queen but it is unlikely she would be invited to Sandringham this Christmas, even if an announcement is made.

Meghan is understood to have already moved into Harry’s two-bedroom Kensington Palace apartment, Nottingham Cottage, which would be their first home together if they wed.
She has shipped her belongings into the small apartment that was also William and Kate’s
first royal home.
Australian comedian Adam Hills, 47, claimed yesterday that Harry could also be looking for another home, telling ITV’s Loose Women: “I know for a fact he has been house-hunting but I can’t
tell you how I know.”
Eventually it is expected the couple would have a London home and a place in the country, like William and Kate and their family.

Joe Little says: “If there were an announcement they will most likely remain at Nottingham Cottage.
“It’s not very big so it’s likely they will eventually take on a larger apartment within the palace – perhaps apartment eight and nine, where Harry spent his childhood with his mother, or apartment one where the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester currently are.”
Meghan might prefer a less regal setting, however. A source says: “She loves the Kensington and Chelsea area and would like to settle there. She sees herself moving to a private home, away from prying eyes.”
